VAN WYCK, SC CALL FOR ARTISTS 2021

 is happy to be chosen by the Town of Van Wyck, SC  to identify suitable outdoor sculpture and arrange for placement in the upcoming 1st  Annual  PUBLIC ART IN VAN WYCK exhibit.

Van Wyck   

is a town in the panhandle of Lancaster County, South Carolina and is part of the Charlotte Metropolitan Area. Van Wyck was established in the 1880s.  It is 29 miles south of Charlotte.   

Van Wyck wishes to lease  outdoor sculptures for one year beginning September 17, 2021. 

The leased artwork will be divided into  Two Categories:
A.  Up to Three (3) large scale statement pieces for $ 2500 (each).
B.  Up to Eight  (8)  pieces that fit on a 6’x6’ pad (or smaller) for $1500 (each). 

The artwork will be chosen based on it's merit in the category that it is submitted.

 Desirable Artwork Characteristics
    Creates a sense of discovery, surprise, boldness or intimacy
    Uses kinetic devices, dynamic shapes and/or bright colors to celebrate a sense of movement
    Participatory and/or interactive
    Whimsical, uplifting and creative

I invite you to submit any pieces that fit the criteria of this project.  There are NO FEES for submittal.  

All submitted work is to be of a "permanent nature" and:

• Be capable of withstanding adverse weather conditions (high winds, freezing temperatures, extreme heat, heavy rains, ice, snow, storms, etc.)
• Be fabricated or finished with non-hazardous materials
• Be maintenance free for the duration of the exhibit
• Take in consideration the safety of the audience 

Please note:  Works not following the criteria WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED for installation.
 

The Artist shall be fully responsible for installation and de-installation unless prior arrangements are made. The Town of Van Wyck will provide any necessary boom truck or additional manpower required for both installation and de-installation.  In all cases the Artist is fully responsible for proper securement of the sculpture.

The sculptures will be insured by the Town of Van Wyck up to the stated purchase value (minus the 20% included commission) from the point they are installed until the point they are removed.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTAL IS JULY 2, 2021.
