2021 CALL FOR ARTISTS
Sculpture in the Landscape
is pleased to be working again with the City of Goldsboro, NC and the Downtown Goldsboro Development Corporation to identify suitable outdoor sculptures and arrange for placement in Downtown Goldsboro's Center Street Streetscape. This is the seventh consecutive year of this exciting project! The City wishes to lease these pieces for one year.
Category A Four (4) large roundabout-scale pieces for $3,000 (ea.).
Category B Two (2) relatively large pieces that fit on a 6’ x 6’ pad for $1,600 (ea.).
Category C Three (3) street-scape scale pieces for $1,200 (ea.).
The roundabouts are approximately 36 feet across and designed to serve as a platform for sculpture. The roundabout sculptures will be mounted on a circular, 10’ diameter, reinforced concrete pad, centered in the roundabout and approached from all four directions. These sculptures must be in relative scale to this space.
The Submittal Deadline is July 16, 2021.
All entries will be presented to Goldsboro's Public Art Steering Committee (PASC) who will then narrow the choices, gather public input and present their recommendations to the City Council for approval on August 16, 2021. Notifications of acceptance will be sent out no later than August 23, 2021. Selected sculptures are to be installed on Friday, October 15, 2021.
Feel free to submit any pieces that fit the criteria of this project. There are no fees for submittal. Be sure to fill out the Submittal Form below and then send two (2) .jpg images for each sculpture submitted to jdavis@sculptureinthelandscape.com .
Submitted Work
All submitted work is to be of a "permanent nature" and:
• Be capable of withstanding adverse weather conditions (high winds, freezing temperatures, extreme heat, heavy rains, ice, snow, storms, etc.)
• Be fabricated or finished with non-hazardous materials
• Be maintenance free for the duration of the exhibit
• Take in consideration the safety of the audience Please note:
Works not following the criteria WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED for installation.
The Artist shall be fully responsible for installation and de-installation unless prior arrangements are made. The City of Goldsboro will provide any necessary crane or manpower required for both installation and de-installation. In all cases the Artist is fully responsible for proper securement of the sculpture.
