CLAYTON, NC 2025 CALL FOR ARTISTS

is pleased to be working again with the Town of Clayton, NC  to identify suitable outdoor sculptures for the upcoming 11th Annual CLAYTON SCULPTURE TRAIL.

The Town of Clayton wishes to lease these pieces for one year beginning March 21, 2025. 

Artwork will be considered in Two Categories:
A. Up to Six  (6) large scale statement pieces for $3000 (each).
B. Up to Seven (7) small to relatively large pieces that fit on pads from 30"x30" to 6’x6’ for $1500 (each). 

Very large/tall sculptures are especially desired for two roundabouts. 

In addition to the lease amounts, there is also a $1000 People's Choice Award.

Selected out of state artists will receive an additional $250 stipend for travel and accommodations. 

 Desirable Artwork Characteristics
    Easily visible that creates a sense of discovery, surprise and intimacy.
    Uses kinetic devices, dynamic shapes and/or bright colors to celebrate a sense of movement.
    Participatory and/or interactive
    Whimsical, uplifting and creative

I invite you to submit any pieces that fit the criteria of this project.  There are no fees for submittal.  

All submitted work is to be of a "permanent nature" and:

• Be capable of withstanding adverse weather conditions (high winds, freezing temperatures, extreme heat, heavy rains, ice, snow, storms, etc.)
• Be fabricated or finished with non-hazardous materials.
• Be maintenance free for the duration of the exhibit.
• Take in consideration the safety of the audience. 

Please note:  Works not following the criteria WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED for installation.
 

The Artist shall be fully responsible for installation and de-installation unless prior arrangements are made. The Town of Clayton will provide any necessary crane or additional manpower required for both installation and de-installation.  In all cases the Artist is fully responsible for proper securement of the sculpture.

The sculptures will be insured by the Town of Clayton up to the stated purchase value (less 20%) from the point they are installed until the point they are removed.

                 Deadline for submittal is January 10, 2025. 

                 Installation date is March 21, 2025.
