Fayetteville, nc 2018 Call for Artists

GREAT NEWS!

The ARTS COUNCIL of Fayetteville/Cumberland County, through donors, has arranged to purchase at least 3 pieces of art  from the first 2 exhibits to donate to the City of Fayetteville.  It is their intention to keep this exciting trend alive!!         

THEREFORE...  sculpture in the landscape  along with the ARTS COUNCIL of Fayetteville/Cumberland County is extremely pleased and excited to announce the third annual Work in Progress, an exhibition of temporary public art installations to be installed in Downtown Fayetteville, NC.   The ARTS COUNCIL wishes to lease these pieces for one year with an option to purchase.   

Categories:  A   Large scale pieces for $2500.       

                      B   Relatively large pieces that fits on a 6’x6’ pad for $1500.       

                      C   Street-scape scale pieces for $1000.    


The Application Submittal Deadline is June 18, 2018.    

  

All entries will be presented to an ARTS COUNCIL panel who will evaluate each sculpture for how they might fit in the available locations, narrow the choices and present their recommendations to Fayetteville’s Public Art Commission for approval.   Notifications of acceptance will be sent out no later than August 31, 2018.    Selected sculptures are to be Installed on Friday, October 19, 2018.  Feel free to submit any pieces that fit the criteria of this project.  There are no fees for submittal. Be sure to fill out the Submittal Form at the bottom of this page and send at least 2 images for each sculpture submitted.

Submitted Work

All submitted work is to be of a "permanent nature" and: (A) Be capable of withstanding adverse weather conditions (high winds, freezing temperatures, extreme heat, heavy rains, ice, snow, storms, etc.). (B) Be fabricated or finished with non-hazardous materials. (C) Be maintenance free for the duration of the exhibit. (D) Be appropriate for an active pedestrian environment. (E) Take in consideration the safety of the audience    

Works not following the criteria WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED for installation.  

   

The Artist shall be fully responsible for installation and de-installation unless prior arrangements are made. The ARTS COUNCIL  will provide any necessary crane, forklift or manpower required for both installation and de-installation.  In all cases the Artist is fully responsible for proper securement of the sculpture.
